10 Mysterious Extinct Human Species

Homo sapiens is the only form of human currently living on Earth.  But several other forms of humans existed in the past.  We still don’t know many things about past human species.  But this video shows a few interesting facts about our prehistoric ancestors.

Homo is Latin for human being and is the genus that includes modern humans, Homo sapiens, and several extinct species classified as either ancestral or closely related to modern humans.  The most well known of these extinct species is Homo neanderthalensis (Neanderthals) and Homo erectus.

Australopithecines are a long extinct species that walked on two legs and had similar dental features as the homo species. Their brains were much smaller than humans and similar to the size of ape’s brains. Their average height was 3.9 to 4.9 ft. (1.2 to 1.5 meters). It is thought that genus Homo descended from the Australopithecines.
